There are more than 30 casinos operating in Mississippi, all regulated by the state Gaming Commission.
On March 30, Gov. Tate Reeves issued an executive order in response to the coronavirus pandemic that closed casinos, their restaurants, entertainment venues and hotels.

Over the past few weeks, Gov. Reeves has loosened restrictions, allowing more businesses to open in an effort to get Mississippians back to work.
“We're providing protective gear for both our team members and our guests. If people feel more comfortable having masks and hand sanitizer, we have all of that available to them,” said Ginny Tzotzolas, General Manager of Riverwalk Casino.
The games are available to test your luck, but casinos aren’t going to be as crowded as pre-coronavirus days.
“One of the guidelines that the Mississippi Gaming Commission passed down during this first phase was that we can only have up to 50% occupancy. We’re adhering to that,” Bankston said.
Davenport said he was a little nervous about going to the casino but staying in the house won’t get us where we need to be as a country.
“I think that this is a welcome break and relief for some people to be able to get out and start to get back to normal,” Davenport said.
In addition to smaller capacity, casinos are spacing out slot machines for social distancing. Fewer players will be at table games and there will be hand sanitizer stations around the gaming floor.
